I have been looking at the savings you guys are making using different dial ups for phone calls and Im intrested in maybe changing myself
Atm Im with Telewest on the 321 plan with £10 line rental. Looking at this months bill the majoriety of calls are evenings (2p a minute) to national numbers and daytime calls to 0870 and 0845 numbers (just read about those numbers
)
Would it be worth me switching over to say 1899? I want to stay with telewest for line rental as its part of my broadband/tv deal
Many thanks

If you join Talktalk on their talk1+ you pay no monthly charge and get free calls to U.K. landlines evenings and weekends or 30 minutes of calls per month to mobiles, you can also get a credit of £10 if referred by someone already with TalkTalk. This is free for 12 months.
Sign up to 18866 & or 1899 for daytime calls 24/7 for 1p or 3p connection charge only for durof call no matter how long you are on.
Also you do need a B.T. line and use their option 1 paid by DD at £10.50 per month
see here for TalkTalkDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
3p a minute during the day - 6am-6pm, Monday to Friday and all UK public holidays
2p a minute during the evening - 6pm-6am Monday to Friday
1p a minute at the weekend - midnight Friday to midnight Sunday
All calls are subject to a 6p connection charge
The answer is YES!30 years, 217 days!0 -

Sorry, derrick, but you are wrong - there is no need to have a BT line to use 18866/1899.
Cupcake can register for these services and start using them via telewest using a freephone access number.0 -
cupcake,
As you are with a non-BT provider, sign up with both 18866 and 1899.
If you know it is going to be a quick call (less than 6 mins) use 18866.
If you're settling down to read the Bible to someone use 1899....and then the window licker said to me...0 -

Thats the trouble in this house, neither of us know what a short phone call is
Thanks for that I shall look at 1899 I guess, trying to remember which no to dial when will be too much for the dh.
Does anyone know if I will be making any savings on the 0845/0870 numbers? I have a feeling that Im charged around 10p a min on TW
Many thanks0 -
does the talktalk package 1 include line rental or would i still have to pay line rental to bt plus talktalk package?
thanks0 -

If you are with B.T you will still pay line rental to them, you need to be on option 1 ,if you pay by DD your monthly payment will be £10.50. No payment to TlakTalk except call charges outside the plan allowance, and dont forget if you are reffered by someone owith Talktalk you both receive £10.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
The onetel February offer is better than TalkTalk.

Hi Cupcake
You can't have talktalk with NTL/Telewest - I was with NTL and had to use Onetel - I am now back with BT and am sticking with Onetel for some calls as they are OK for me.
I used 1899 for land line calls as it is just a 3p connection charge no matter how long you are on, other than the free weekend calls with Onetel. This combination is also much cheaper for mobile calls too, if you make any.
If if all sounds complicated (it can be!) make a table of the cheapest call charges for different times of day and consult that before making a call. If household members don't (or won't) stick to it, get an Orchid V4 dialler - see sticky above to lern about this wonderfull little gadget.
HTH,
