Washing out flower pots

What is the best way to do this? I seem to have over 100 pots of different sizes and am not sure what to do.

Can I just use water or should it be soapy?

Can you blast them with a hosepipe, seems to do the trick with mine.

I'd avoid using any kind of detergent to wash them as it may cause problems next time you use the pot.

I leave my pots in the greenhouse to dry, soil n all, then brush all of the debris off and spray them with a hose pipe. They look almost like new! :)

    No, don't do that...

...it could be a very expensive way to wash pots as my dad found out when the grit in the pots killed his dishwasher pump.

I never bother, I know all the advice is to wash etc, but I just let them dry out, and knock any clinging compost out before reusing

Being doing this for over 40 years, never had a problem
