was speaking to a builder & said it wasa waste of time of laying teran (crap spelling i know)as the weeds normally grow from above rather than up through from the bottom.from what iv seen if you pull a weed out of your drive hes rite in what hes saying..
my drive will have a layer of scalpings then 20mm stone on it

Quite agree - the weeds in my drive are always from seeds that land from above and just rooting in the very top of the drive - no membrane will stop that happening.
A regular spin round with a watering can full of weedkiller does the trick quickly and easily.0 -

weeds grow from below, and by seeds from the sky.
so by laying a membrane, you are helping to stop half the problem.
