Many years ago (about 8 years ago) my parents had a similar situations. They wrote to the chief executive at the time whose office arranged a refund plus a goodwill amount within a week.

I'd be inclined to write again with a Letter Before Action, threatening court action. Tends to work well in most circumstances.

Ive written to them emailed and telephoned, It just seems a bit unfair to me that they can mess people about like this.
    Iwill keep trying though

Scary way to deal with it. Send them no more money, just send them a letter every week asking for the bill info and stating that you believe you are owed a refund. Keep copies of the letters. After sometime, they will send you a threatening letter. Send copies of all the copies and tell them you are waiting for a response. Ultimately they will respond, but it may be that their solicitor is the one who sees sense when he prepares to take you to court.

If you want thinks like copies of old bills/bank statements and everything else that have on you I think you have to write to the 'Information Officer' requesting copies of all information relating to you. That way they have to send everything including notes on the account but it costs about £10.

Other option is to write a letter addressed to the 'Complaints Department'.

Hi joannec04 - You seem to have been doing all the right things, but BG ain't

BG are supposed to deal with these quiries within a fixed time frame, and as they have not, it's time to take this matter over their heads and go directly to the Ombudsman in writing
    Energy Ombudsman
    PO Box 966
    Warrington WA4 9DF
State your case as concisely as you can, list the dates of your phone calls and include copies of all Emails and letters you have sent to BG
There are many reports on this site of suppliers suddenly waking up as soon as the Ombusman's office asks a question
    All the best

If you haven't followed that before contacting the ombudsman, the ombudsman will simply advise you to try that first.
