Gas Or Electric Cooker-Cheapest?

Hi
We need to buy a cooker in the next few weeks as our cooker is dying and to get someone to look at it will cost £100+
My parents have given me some money and I have about £350 to spend on a new cooker and hob.
ATM, I have a gas hob, electric fan oven and an extractor which is rarely used but looks nice:rolleyes: I am not sure what to go for
I like the look of the electric ceramic hobs, but think these will be dearer to run
Can anyone offer any advice.
many thanks

You never ever see a professional cook using an electric hob.
Having said that I've got an electric hob with two halogen and two ceramic rings which works OK, but I would prefer gas, which would even now be cheaper to run, and more controllable. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi Penny....microwave cooking is cheapest, followed by slo0w cooking. Heating an element to then heat a pan to then heat the food is the dearest, even heating a pan before heating the food with gas is gotta be dear.
Not studied the economics of a Tefal type steamer, but probably cheap.
Slow cooking on Economy 7 is cheap and great. Not being able to roast with loadsa fat , lard , oil whatever, is good.0 -
Thanks guys.
