thomson extra baggage tips and trick

Just added extra baggage for my thomson flight whilst choosing seats.
On screen it stated that we only had 15kg - I added 5kg for me only at the cost of £25. There was no option to only do this for the outward journey.
I then got a confirmation that I had been charged £12.50 for the outward and £12.50 for the return for 5kg.
As the costing was split I decided to try my arm and see if my wife could also have 5 kilo on the outward journey if i gave up my 5kg on the return leg (as we only need the extra weight allowance for the outward journey)
To my utter surprise they agreed. I also found out that we actually have 20kg as standard and now have 5kg each extra for the outward journey.
They said the bag limit was 23 kilo so we are allowed 23kg (checked in) and 7 kg in our hand luggage each. 30 kg in total for the cost of "only" £25
I am curious as to why it told me on screen that we only had 15kg on the extras booking page. Tut Tut ...is this deliberate I wonder
All in was happy with the outcome though.
And they offered me a refund on the extra weight when I mentioned the above but I kept it anyway as it could be useful.

It might also depend where you are staying - I believe you get 23KG if staying at a Platinum holtel.0
