question about Oyster card

Going to London in 2w with my adult daughter for 2 nights. I've read that it is cheaper to buy an Oyster card rather than daily travelcards for the tube. I've tried to order 2 cards with £15 on each, but when I get to the checkout, there's only one card on it & it is in my name. Nowhere for me to order one in her name. She cant order one herself, as a) she dosn't have a computer and b), she doesn't have a credit card. I'm a bit confused. It used to be easier when you just turned up at the underground & bought a ticket. Any advice here would be welcome, ie, how do I get 2 cards, is it cheaper/ easier, or does anyone have any further travel advice.

You can pick one up at any of the london underground or overground stations, think there is a £3 deposit, then just use the machine to add money to it, also the cards do not have names on so it wouldnt matter if you ordered 2 online seperatly using your name for both

I think there is a security issue about ordering them online. Each card holder gets their own online account.

You could do this by setting up an account in the daughter's name. You can pay for it using your own card.

To activate cards set up like this you have to nominate a tube station where you activate the card by going through the barrier at the start of a journey - only ok if you do want to make the journey!

Otherwise just get them when you arrive in London.

Also note if you have a railcard you can associate it with the oyster card which gets you a lower cap on your daily fares.

Just get them at the first station. Takes literally 2 minutes!

Not true - unless you barely use them.

There is a cap on the use of Oystercard PAYG (note PAYG) which is the same as the cost of the same one day Travelcard. There's also a £3 refundable deposit on each Oystercard so you need to allow time to reclaim that & any unused money

Also an Oystercard won't allow you to use the offers on https://www.daysoutguide.com which require either a valid train ticket for a destination within London or a Travelcard bought at a train station - the offers are made by the train companies so you have to buy from them.
