Lease Extention Timescales??

I am a FTB and buying a flat/maisonette that is having the lease renewed before I buy.
They issued the Notice in late April and there is 4 days left till the dead line for the Counter Notice, but they have yet to hear anything from the Housing Association
I am aware that if we do not hear anything they will have to apply to the Court for a Vesting Order? (I know they have to do it within 6 months)
This is probably a stupid question. How long does this all take?
Anyone been through this process?
I had my offer accepted in mid February and I am now wondering whether to start looking for somewhere else or hang on......
Also my mortgage offer runs out in September :-(
I am such a patient person but its really getting to me now.:(
