yesterday afternoon I visited Nationwide Autocentre website and saw their half-price MOT for £27.42p.
I entered my car reg number, etc but did not book a test. This morning I visited the site again to book. My car details showed up on their page but instead of the half price offer it showed "MOTs £54.85, Now 44.85"

I phoned them on 0800 096 4216 and asked, "is the half-price MOT offer is still running". She said yes and told me that I have to book it online. When I told her what happened online she asked me to hold on and put me through someone else. He told me that the half-price offer is now finished and offered to book me in. But at full price.
I said, "no thanks, will try Kwik-Fit or somewhere". Then he offered to book me in for half-price. I said okay. Then it turned out that he is in Brimingham; 150 miles from me.

Later, I ran CCleaner on my PC and tried their website.
My car details had now disappeared from the page and the half-price MOT for £27.42p was back on again!
I booked the test and I got a confirmation email that showed booking information including the fee of £27.42p.

Nationwide Autocentre using clever tactics ?!
Has anyone else experienced them hiking up the price this way?

I am afraid to take my car there now and might cancel the appointment. They might fail my car and try to charge me for repairs that are not necessary; as some garages have been known to do ...

If you are an AA member, book the 1/2 price MOT and then put in your membership number, the price goes up.
I've used them 4 times for MOT's, always half price and booked by going through topcashback. Not had a problem with them. 1 vehicle passed first time with no advisories. The other 3 vehicles failed and they quoted for the work. Took the cars away, sorted the failures and advisories and they then passed them. (Not a trader, 4 cars in the last 2 years, we have 2 cars).

speculative advertising to create footfall through their centres
as for the price hike its a rubbish website run by an outside company
as for their headoffice in solihull its tiny run by about 25 staff.their ad man is an ex virgin top man

for an unbiased mot use a council run test centre
