job lost??

hi, i currently work for argos in the east midlands.myself and my colleagues have heard last week that wincanton are taking over the transport department and we are all getting transferred over to them.i am currently a shunter on the yard.
rumours are going around that tupa law 2006 (transfer of undertakings protection agency) will not allow wincanton to change my pay, annual leave entitlement etc...

is this true?
also has anyone had experience working for wincanton??

i was slightly worried because getting transferred in bad economic times is very unsettling and worrying.:(

TUPE protects your main terms of employment - but only in a limited way. Employers can get around TUPE if they are careful and can cite strong business reasons. And the protection "wears off" - generally after 12 -18 months at best, your conditions of service are fair game to being changed, especially if they are better than those of existing staff.

wage cut looks likely then...........we get paid around 28k per year shunting on the yard.there drivers are on about 24k driving on the road. so if they re- contract us we'll be getting paid the same as them.unless they freeze our pay until there wages get on level with ours?
or i am probably being optimistic..:o
