Which would you buy from - Dixons or John Lewis?

This could go on a few boards, so I figured I'd post here (because I know I'll get solid opinions
) and ask about my consumer right to choose where to shop!
I am buying a new camera, and the best prices I can get are:
Amazon £334.70 No discounts
Dixons £334.70 plus 1336 BA Miles
John Lewis £346.80 plus 668 miles
On the face of it, Dixons looks like the best deal, but they are not renowned for their aftersales. I am also not 100% convinced of Amazon and aftersales. I am also confident that JL will deliver very quickly, and I fly in a week!
Is it worth the loss of some flyer miles and an extra £10 to guarantee a reliable aftersales service? I have added a dudey poll for you to vote.
Thank you thank you!

John LewisJL for me. I'd rather spend a (bit) extra to avoid the potential of any hassles.0

AmazonNever had any problems with Amazon, and they do tend to deliver before the date you are told. Ordered something last Tuesday and it arrived on the Thursday.0

John LewisI think after the terrible service i had with dixons/tech guys I would go with JL as i did with the laptop i am on now, It was 499 @ amazon and 525 @ JL with an extra year warrenty.
mind you looks like a lot of miles different. think i would work out the cost of the extra miles agasint the cost of the 'whatever happens' with dixons.
Amazon are good at replacing stuff within 12 months if you tell them to. they will ask you to ring the maker but i just say ok, you've asked, ive said no. can you sort it please. And they have doneIf i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
John LewisAfter the "fun" I've had at Dixon's group in the past, I barely even buy batteries from them.
Going back a few years a games console went wrong after a week, it took about 6 return trips to get a new one - with the replacements varying from not working, to being obvious returns complete with cake crumbs/greasy finger prints, to the one i'd returned - the last straw was one of the had an obvious fault (game looping through the same sequence) which had the "assistant" comparing the store machine with the one I was returning for something like an hour, watching the same 5 seconds of looping game on my machine, then trying the the game on the store machine, and back to my machine.
Couple that with a few other problems with Curry's and PC World* and I don't buy from them if there is any other choice, or unless the price is exceptionally good (and low enough to write off), or the manufacturer is very good with faults.
Amazon tend to be generally ok, but still a bit of a PITA at times with their call centres when it comes to items that are still in UK warranty but outside of the first 30-90 days (I suspect some of their call centre staff deal with both UK and US calls).
John Lewis tend to be a little more expensive than Amazon, but about the same price as Dixons (or less), but the customer service is something that is generally very good and a completely different attitude to the Dixons Group mentality.
*5 hard drives bought from them on the same day, all failed within a couple of months of each other - I know I handled them carefully, I can only assume (as they weren't the same batch number) that PC World staff had not been overly careful with them.0 -
John LewisJL get my vote, as customer service/support is second to none.
Amazon apparently are OK when it comes to refunds and customer service, but I've heard them closing people's accounts if you make too many complaints, even if they're valid!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
John LewisSee if JL will price match and pick up from the store.0

AmazonI have voted for Amazon, only because I've always found it such an easy experience to shop with them online. If I was doing it purely for the air miles, I would have chosen John Lewis, as I have always had quality, good service instore (I have never bought anything from JL online yet).0

John LewisI've never heard anything good about Dixons & tbh I'm surprised they've got a competitive price. If you need it in under a week I'd go with JL to avoid the risk of a faff with the post0

Thanks guys, have ordered from JL. If it isn't delivered by Saturday I'll order from Amazon as a back up.
I did think about the JL pricematch, but it is more expensive in the Dixons store so couldn't do it, plus the cost of getting to the shop (and the obligatory Starbucks en route) would end up making it a false economy!
Am all excited about my shiny new camera ... suppose I'd best book a hotel now!

Good choice!
Dixons isn't doing very well in the poll....0
