Buying error spoiling sale

Hya. I`ve had this happen a few times to me. I have had someone buy it now. They have then emailed me to say they have presssed the wrong button. Ok you get your final selling fee back, but the auction is ended, and there doesn`t seem to be a way of carrying it on. So you lose out on a possible sale, and have to relist.

Your buyers are lying to you, it is called buyers remorse. They cannot BIN by accident.
Therefore make sure you go through the complete NPB process (don't do a mutual) as since you say that does get your FVFs back. Unfortunately you will then have to relist the item.
I haven't found accidental buyers a problem personally, but if you are having problems you can set your auction to immediate payment required which means that until they actually make the paypal payment the auction remains live, so no payment no sale.

Brilliant. Thanks0

I once had an American tell me he's bought something "by accident" (a bit difficult since you have to click on at least 2 separate pages to make a purchase), and he said he didn't want the item, sorry and "have a nice day"! I suspect what actually happened was that he didn't bother to read the listing and only realised it was in the UK after he'd "bought" the item.
I told him I would need to do an NPB to get my final value fees back from eBay, but I offered him the "mutually agreed not to proceed with the transaction" option, and he didn't even say thanks.0 -

They rarely do - the "oops - just pressed several buttons accidentally" buyer is usually lying to you so do you really expect them to be polite ?0 -
Yeh. My last one was American. I thought that it normally comes up. Do you wish to commit to buy? So you have to click twice.I`ll be doing like Soolin said. If its on buy now, I`ll ask for immediate payment. Thanks0

I must admit it happened to me to buy an item by accident.
It was a "buy it now" item, several months ago, and I just wanted to get more information on the item, I pressed a button and it bought it for me.
I really appreciated that the seller agreed to cancel the sale. I don't think he had to do that, and it was very nice from him.
Please don't worry too much about losing a sale. Being nice will help us all live in a better world :j

Its happend to me 3 times now. Each time I have been nice about it, and we have mutally agreed not to go ahead with the sale. I tend to think, it could be genuine, but it does make you mad sometimes. Especially when I`m trying to raise some cash.0

The only trouble is with immediate payment is that if buyers want to pay by cheque or postal order they can't buy it. I accept these forms of payment so I think immediate payment is unfair to people who can't use paypal.0 -
I dont see how people can 'accidently' bid or buy an item as you have to click a couple of times to buy or bid on something - once to say you buy it then you have to confirm.
I only pay by paypal now - if they dont accept paypal then I dont buy - and vice versa - I only accept paypal so if they dont want to pay by paypal then tough!Weight Loss - 102lb0
