Silly question-sparkling/fizzy water, okay for plants?

This really is a silly question. I need green screwtop bottles for bottling elderflower champagne and yesterday had over 12 litres, full, given to me. May I use this for watering? Shall I disperse fizz in part-full rain butts?
Thanks for any advice.

I cant see why not as its only a gas contained in the water, but just in case, why not just empty them into said rain-butts.

I never seem to use up a whole bottle of fizzy water and end up using the reamins for cut flowers. I make sure I bring it to room temperature rather than serving it ice cold!

I've also used out-of-date fizzy water (by the gallon - I can't remember why I stocked up with so much of it!) on vegetables, shrubs and houseplants. It had such a good effect on my houseplants that I wish I had more of it.

Isn't the gas in fizzy water co2? Which is what plants need... I'd have thought they would benefit from it if anything.

Sorry to but in but I used glass bottles for Elderflower Champagne and they exploded with the gas :eek::eek:
This time have used plastic bottles with screw cap and had no problems

For any sparkling wine, that continues to ferment in bottle, as doeas elderflower, you really need to use Champagne style bottles, they are made of thicker glass

Plastic will of course expand, but could also pop

The fizzy water ones are OK with the known pressure from fizzy water, it is not getting any more pressure once filled, but fermenting wines are gaining pressure, especailly in this warm weather

    Thankyou all.
I'm happy with screwtop green plastic bottles for the fizz, decided upon after much reading on pertinent mse threads last year. All worked beautifully and tastes divine. Water now poured on aubergine plant area.
