Will a t-mobile sim work in an O2 iphone?

I'm sure this may have been asked before but I couldn't find the relevant thread.

Will my existing t-mobile sim work in an O2 iphone, will it need to be unlocked first?

I'm told i'll need to upgrade to unlimited internet on my exisiting contract as the iphone is constantly connected to the internet, can anyone confirm this?

Iphone will be 3G.

All help greatly appreicated as always.

you will need to get the phone unlocked first.

and yes, an unlimited data package would be very recommended with nay smart phone.

  • Call O2, this is faster, or go to o2.co.uk in support search for unlock iphone, when you find the page you can apply online to get it unlocked, it can take a few days. Then you can use any SIM card. I did this. You will get a text to confirm when your phone is unlocked.

It might be connected to the internet, but data is downloaded only when you are surfing, emails can come through all the time but unless they have attachments they should be quite small.

data is also used by widgets and many of the apps used on the iphone.

if you don't have a a data plan you need to be very carefully that the apps you use are not costing you a fortune.

Maps too. A big problem when data roaming. But apps and maps only download when you are using them. There is nothing sneaky like on a PC when updates etc are downloaded in the background.

theres no point in having an iphone if all you are going to do is conserve data usage. its a media consumption device.
