help with child tax credits

my son is 17 and his 20 week extension on child benefit and child tax credits that i claim for as i am on jsa have stopped. my son is not working or in training but he is volunteering until he starts college in september as his e2e course finished in march. connexions have not been very helpful,does anyone know if i can still claim child benefit and child tax credits or does my son have to see if he can claim jsa. i am concerned as he has learning difficulties and if he has to go to the job centre he will be in a strange poistion and not know what to do. HELP:(

    He cannot claim JSA at 17.

    Why would the OP or her son be entitled to IS?

    as far as I remember from when my son was inbetween school and college that because he was still going to be in full time education ( though not at degree level) we were still entitled to and claiming child tax credits and child benefit- both of these are payable until the child is 19 or 20
    I would advice Op to contact child benefit and TCO to confirm these facts
