Economy 10 tariff
Hi
Can someone help me please. I am with EDF Energy and they have recently said that I have an economy 10 meter installed in my house. The timer only has a day and night setting and EDF claim that my low period is between 9pm and 7am yet everywhere I read including EDF's website claims economy 10 should have an afternoon low period. When I spoke to EDF they said that it was up to my energy provider Eastern to set the times for it.
Is this correct as it seems the Economy 10 tariff is more expensive than Economy 7 and the only benefit of it is the day time low period which at present is not being offered to me?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated
regards

If you are on economy 10, you will be getting a total of 10 hours cheap rate, but not continuous 10 hours.

Hi
As mentioned in my original post I spoke to EDF and they say that my low rate starts at 9pm and finishes at 7am in the morning - ie 10 hours of continuous low rate which is different to what they claim economy 10 should be ie a period in the afternoon, early evening and then during the night.0 -
E7 and E10 are generic terms that refer to the number of 'cheap' hours you get. The hours you get may be continuous or not and some of the higher ones i.e. E10 MAY have a period during the day.
The higher the E number typically means the night rate will increase E7 to E10 can be anything from 10-15% more.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

The only tariff that has times similar to that are evening/weekend tariffs.....EDF do one for domestic users called Eco20-20, is it possible that you have this....or the person you spoke to at EDF thinks you have this.0

Hi,
Don't know if this helps but I'm on Economy 10 with E-on and have just clarified my meter readings, rates and times with them. My meter has 3 readings - 1 is the night rate, 2 is the day rate and 3 is the heating rate.
My overall economy hours are 12 midnight to 5 am with the stored heat/water heating cheap rates at 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm and 10 pm to half past midnight. Rate 3 is the one that is used for cheap water heating as well as the stored heat tariff.
Hope this is clear. You don't find too many folk about who know exactly how Economy 10 works do you?
