Activate Sky Viewing card when abroad

Hiya

Anyone using a £20 Sky TV card abroad?

If so, where did you 'activate' it?

I've just bought one to use in France and it says you need to put in the Sky box and then call customer services to activate it. Can I put it in my main Sky box here in the UK, activate it and then take it to use in France?

Any ideas, thanks

Jason, yes I believe you're not allowed to do it (illegal I think is too strong a word!).

But still, Sky are getting a good deal, £20 plus another all important subscriber to help with advertising rates.

I'm going to phone an English guy I've just found who specialises in installing Sky in France and see what he suggests

  • yes sorry infringes copyright deals but it is possible
  • you need all of the information from the services 4 - system details screen and then you call Sky (FTV) suppressing your number and give them the card details and the box serial number.

The box should have the latest software on so have that information to hand. They can help you update the software on the box.

Suppress your own number.....! Don't forget that.
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?

    Thanks for this.

I spoke to the TV guy in France and he said call them but with number withheld etc - just as you suggested.
