edited 6 July 2010 at 11:35PM in Parking tickets, fines & parking
I received a ticket in a asda car park for parking between the lines. i had to do this in order to tak my child out from a car seat and needed more room there were no family bays available. i appealled the ticket on this basis and stated that i am very reluctant to pay and the fine initially was 45 pounds.
they wrote back to me stating that there records match the records held of the owner of the vehicle bla bla bla not only that but in the letter they are stating the fine has been reduced to 50 pounds. this seems wierd as the ticket shows 45 and the letter states 50

On the appeal i also mentioned my name and after reading up on this i take it i should have not.

any hint on what i could do
help please

Yes ignore them completely, these tickets are unenforceable in law, so basically just invoices , they are trying to scam you, and they will send you bogus letters from debt collectors next, then bogus solicitors letters, just ignore them all, and certainly don't pay them a penny.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

No problem :) don't forget to tell your friends and family that they should ignore such tickets in future. The only tickets that you should deal with are from the council or police, and very often you can successfully appeal them as well because of errors in the ticket.

so just to clarify even though they have my details and the fact that they are asking for £50 in the letter of appeal and £45 on the actual ticket, i just sit back and do nothing. its just that they going to start sending red notices and court summons and ccj notices, bearing in mind that ccj's applications can now be processed online by companies.

i appreciate the information you have told me so far but do you or anyone know any type of legalities behind this

any further help would be appreciated

Yes, just ignore and file them

No they cant issue CCJs, only courts can

First they have to issue a court claim, then win the case and only if you don't pay the judgement within 28 days is a CCJ registered

danga these tickets are not enforceable at all, it has the same merit as me requesting £50 for replying to you in this thread, if I asked you for that money, would you give it to me ? Don't get caught up in the scam they don't have any power, private companies cannot fine you, these companies don't do court because when they do they lose every time.

Got to agree with taffy056 and Orford, you have nothing to worry about at all, it's a scam.

There's tons on the internet about this issue, Google 'private parking scam' and look for forum posts on here, pepipoo.com, consumer action group, all of which will tell you that such tickets are unenforceable trash, whether or not you've appealed already.

Watchdog covered this last month, and their legal bod helpfully confirmed just what we tell everyone to do with fake parking tickets (whether you have 'contravened their pathetic rules' or not):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA

    :T:rotfl:

The registered keeper will receive a few debt collector letters telling you to pay, but so what once you know they are just bog roll! Do not panic, do not believe the lies on the letters about Court/CCJs/dire consequences! They cannot just 'apply for' a CCJ, that's not how things work at all.

See examples here of what letters to ignore and be prepared for. Don't bother to actually read their threats when you get the matching threats, instead look at them now so you are ready to laugh when you get the whole predicable set:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=2214803

To be proactive, if the scam letters get tiresome you may like to also report the company and their debt collectors for harassment:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/en...=03_harassment

But don't forget this is NOT a debt, NOT a fine, just a mickey mouse ticket.

Nothing happens, your credit record is NOT affected, so don't fall for this con.

Be angry about their illegal scary letters, tell your friends never to pay a private parking ticket, even if they have broken the car park's spurious 'rules'. Spread the word.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Please try the new telepathic FAQ about PPC issues.

    Done that? Great.

Wait a few seconds, whilst I receive your question, now here's my answer to the question.......

    Telepathic FAQ says.................Ignore, ignore, ignore.
