Easyworship and Windows 7 problem

A local church uses a program called Easyworship which used to run very well with Windows XP but refuses to run on their new computer which uses Windows 7. Is there anyway you can fool Windows 7 to behave like XP and run old style software, please?

There are several ways round this, but it depends which version of Win 7 they have. If Professional or Ultimate they can use:

    Windows XP mode

though IIRC, you may only be able to do this on certain hardware. The page above states the limitations of the program.

Alternatively, it should be possible to run XP as a "virtual PC" under Win7 using a free product such as Oracle's Virtualbox. That will probably be slightly more complex to do, though.

The program may just need to be run with Administrative rights - you can do this by right-clicking on the relevant file and selecting "Run as Administrator".

If that fails, you can try using compatibility mode - right click the program file/icon, choose "Properties", select the "Compatibility" tab, tick the box labelled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose an operating system from the drop-down menu. Click OK, then run the program again.

If that still doesn't work, I've found that a lot of old software installers have problems with UAC (a security-feature in Vista & Windows 7). You could try turning off UAC, installing the software, then turning UAC on again. UAC is a pretty good security measure, so it's not a good idea to leave it turned off all the time.

To turn UAC on/off, go to the Start menu, then Control Panel and select the "User Accounts" applet. Click the "Change User Account Control settings" link, and move the slider down to "never notify" (or back up to the "default" position).

    Hope this helps :-)
