If you are self employed, you can claim at the HMRC's rates, so 40p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and then 25p per mile thereafter. Travel from home to your place of work doesn't count. If you work from home, then whatever is business travel qualifies, e.g. home to distribution centre/suppliers/places where you sell goods etc.
I am not sure what happens if you are employed. I would have thought any work related travel would be compensated for by your employer?0
