Hi, was wondering if anyone could offer advice. I want to plant an evergreen hedge to screen a building in the garden. Ideally I would prefer a native hedge but also want it to grow quite quickly which probably rules out holly, yew etc. I do not want leylandi either. Someone suggested pittosporum which I'm not familiar with. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of using this as a headge or indeed had an other ideas? Also is anyone is using/would recommend pittosporum do you know how close they should be planted? or what type to go for as I think there was several types. Any advice would be great.
Thanks

I have a hedge of Red Robbins (Robinnia) and it looks great especially in the spring and summer when the leaves are red..

    Hi

Pittosporum can be frost tender, so I would be cautious depending where you live.

Other suggestions are Escallonia (many varieties red, white or pink flowers) - which has fab flowers in summer and Griselinia littoralis

Greyer by the minute - Older by the hour - Wiser by the day
