I really want to build it = )

I got the donor parts last year and they've sat in storage. I'm hoping to start this project next week after my holiday and spend about 5 hrs a week on it. That's equal to 60 days of work if the 300 hrs are anything to go by!

So much work for such an awesome car!

    Hello tim_n

I'll move your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, where it should get more views and responses.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Regards

love to know what the donor car is. a sierra, granada or a jag.

realistically allow a bit of extra time for completion and be strong willed. in the past i have known a few who have lost interest building their kit cars.

strongly recommend you take photos of the build for your record and also post it on a website created by yourself. i love to know how you are progressing.

strongly strongly recommend you invest in a portable heater for those cold days in the garage :-)
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

hehe gotta find a garage first!

It's a ford granada. Broke the steering rack (unfortunately) and I'm not sure if we managed to get the rear radial arms out. I stripped it last year but been desperate for time = )

Now ready to start. Expect to see 'sumo.waark.com' soon = )

    .........

if all else fails then build it in the front room LOL

remember a story where a guy build a kit car or something in his front room or kitchen. after finishing he realised he had to demolish the outside wall to get it out DOH

Unfortunately I have a garage at home, but not allowed to use it! The front room would be even worse!

The trick is to start building it then get fed up and go and buy a complete one ;) Tell everybody it's "all your own work" and they'll think you're rock.
Good ones start at around 7k on eBay but unfinished ones are much cheaper. Can be harder than it looks.
    Can I help?

not very money saving to start and then buy a complete one = ) Plenty timesaving though!

The whole reason for building it though is so I get a good idea what is wrong with it and how to fix it.
