    I'd second Bournemouth, trains are very easy there, direct and frequent.

    I third Bournemouth!

    If you are only going for the day, you don't want to spend half of it on the train. Bournemouth would be about 2 hours.

    Bournemouth for me too. Very used to tourists and sandy beach is pretty accessible from the station.

    Bournemouth definitely - it's not that far by train from London, and is seasidey enough but not overly cheesy.

    I live in Bournemouth and the trains from London are pretty regular. The beaches here are all very nice and clean and there are usually other bits and bobs going on in the area too.

    North bay is relatively quite none commercial south bay amusements, fun fair, famous Harbour bar brilliant Italian ice cream
