    Get on to BG about the refund, as they have already admitted fault they should be ok with refunding the charges. Having worked for a big company myself, this happens quite a lot with customers and we would usually refund about 6 or 7 customers a week with their charges.

    You will need to provide BG with a copy of your bank statement showing the direct debit and the charges for them to be able to process the refund. You are more than welcome (and indeed encouraged) to photocopy the statement and scrub out anything not relevant with a black marker.

    The AA took about 2 weeks to send us a cheque. Which reminds me, make sure you request a cheque in your covering letter- companies are very good at using the refund to reduce your bill with themselves.
    Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.
