Hi
I am currently on ESA and have just completed the medical assessment and awaiting the outcome.
I have since found out that I am pregnant. How will that effect me in the long run whilst on this benefit and will I have to come off it?
Kind regards

You can stay on ESA while pregnant and after giving birth.
In some circumstance you can be treated as having LCW while pregnant.0 -
To remain on ESA, you need to satisfy the ESA medical called WCA, and you need 15 points.. Being pregnant does not usually alter the need for 15 points.
LCW is only 'treated as satisfied' 6 weeks before the expected week, and for upto 2 weeks after the baby is born.0 -
You are treated as LCW only around the period of confinement. This option is used by people that are not entitled to SMP or MA.
As pregnancy is normal physiological porcess it is unlikely that she will score at ESA.
Therefore consider other benefits if eligible.0
