Both laptops are Dell, one is 1300 and one is Inspirion 1501.

damaged means accidental damage, or faulty? If the latter what is the specific fault/symptoms, and how old are they exactly?

One accidental damage and one needs a new motherboard. One purchased 2007 and one purchased 2008.

Silver options are available for a few pence less.

To be sure that I am correct, you can take the hard drives out of the machines to make sure that they do have differing connectors.
