so the BMI Amex CC offers money transfer with 0% fees? is this still available?0 -
The current Virgin money offering offers 0% for twelve months on purchases. So if you were buying from somewhere that takes card payments you could probably save some money on the fee. Although most garages will levy 1-2 per cent for card payments, still cheaper than the 4% fee that Virgin are currently advertising for money transfers. (2.8% for credit card transfers). Note after paying the 4% fee, it is interest free for 12 months. Thereafter the typical rate is 23.9%.
A word of warning. Virgin are very good at rate jacking. There are people on these boards paying well over 23.9%. A lot of people are also finding that they can no longer get credit cards at good rates at the moment. Gone are the days of just getting another 0% card at the end of the period so you might find in a years time that you can't get another card and will be paying a lot of interest.
If you are looking to borrow over more than 12 months it might be better to try to get a sensible priced loan, and pay interest monthly, but less interest over the period than if you used a card.0 -
Cards that will transfer money direct to your current account are listed here http://www.stoozing.com/sbt.php they charge a fee for the transfer.
Your other option is to use a 0% purchase card and pay the dealer's merchant fee, which can be around 2.5% http://www.stoozing.com/purchases.php"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
