just turned laptop on, and as soon as windows loaded a virus message came up, looked like the official windows 'security shield' icon, done a quick scan, found viruses and then said 'clear now'
clicked ok then im diverted me to a AV security centre asking me to pay to upgrade, sometihng like $49.95 (america dollars)
Cant get rid of it, cant do system restore, or open avira or malwarebytes, whatever i click on, i get security alert come up
anyone? im desperate

Try an online scan:

there are others.:think:0 -
Start in Safe Mode with Networking and run Malwarebytes from there.0

you may need to rename malwarebytes to get it to run ,or try

I'd go for the renaming malwarebytes then running hijackthis.
Instructions below (altered slightly) but written by alienRIK:
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION') but rename it to something else
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/2894/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)0 -
You can also use rkill to kill the rouge AV and run malwarebytes but it's probably easier to just run it in safe mode with networking as per Donnie's post0
