MSE News: FSA crackdown on banks raiding savings to pay debts

  • I moved my current account out of Lloyds several years ago, leaving less than £10 in the account. In January this year, an internet payment for my Lloyds credit card went into an old account. The credit card dept decided that I hadn't paid and took the minimum amount out from my current account - moving it into the red. The bank then decided to charge interest on the amount my current account was in debit!!
It's taken from then until now to almost rectify the situation. Lloyds have given me almost £50 to cover phone calls etc to call centres where staff promise to help ( and guess what - they don't),so they are out of pocket.

When the dust has settled, I'm closing the account so they wont be able to set off again.
