Employer planning for redundancy but offering Flexible working.

Options
Hi there

I'm currently on Maternity leave, due to return to work August 2nd.

After a battle last month trying to get flexible working, I originally wanted to work part time 17.5 hrs but my employer refused this (never received anything in writing) asked to meet me and we agreed a 30hr week (received confirmation of this in writing last week).

I have just seen an email from my employer advising that due to the economic climate, they need to make cuts. The emails advises that those who would condier vol redundancy to come forward or anyone willing to do flexible working.

My question is, can I go back to my manager and ask if my case can be considered again in light of this communication?

Thanks for reading.

    Newmum,

Given they are asking for people to apply for it you shouldn't be precluded, saying that, they may not grant it if between you you can not agree a workable solution to the hours you propose.

At my previous company you could only apply once each rolling year unless you had what they classed as a life changing event.

If it is still what you are looking for ask your boss.
