Check out resources for the ECDL, that should cover the basics to a good enough standard.

ECDL is what I got taught with - very good overview of what can be learnt. So I'd agree with the above comment.

Also don't forget you can use the help function in excel too! If in doubt you do have the help button. Also, the internet too. If you can do it someway or other surely that's good even if you have to look it up?

Sorry Lil306 I misunderstood. I looked at his site on my iPhone so video didn't play.

ECDL is good too, it is well structured. There are loads of great resources online. There are good training companies too, many are pricey but I know people who've been to local authorities who do the ECDL.

There are also apps for iPhone and iPad by Amazing Elearning £1.19 for iPhone and £2.39 for iPad. I'm downloading one of these now. Anyone tried it?

Looks like redmandarin has loads to get on with.

PhilCo is MrConnoly (person who owns that website), wasn't anything bad just a short joke :D

I was referring to the video on the home page, mainly because I hate those "earn money at home" videos

Also, seconded that MrExcel, it's a very good site. I used to use it back in the days. Along with NotesNinjas (for Lotus Notes)
It's an old page that I haven't got round to updating didn't realise the ads were still on. The file is just to show anyone wanting to see a few examples of functions with explanations as to what they're doing. I'm just giving free info away as I did when solving your vba problem Lil306, not expecting anything from it.

  • http://www.free-training-tutorial.com/ that is a good website, is it me or does it not have sound?

Tried Amazing eLearning on the iPad, I got the Mac tutorials, it is well worth the £2.39. If anyone tries any of the others let me know what you think.

Just found a minute to log back in to MSE.

Wow! Thanks for all your kind replies, gotta go now, will read your responses fully later and let you know how I get on. I'm currently trying to gen up on all my wonderous skills and qualities, lol (exaggerated slightly of course, ;)) that I put on the application form, plus a trial run (by car) to the interview site, so I don't need to worry about getting lost!

    Thanks again guys.

    I GOT THE JOB!!!

Whoopee! I'm over the moon! Because I lack confidence, I get nervous at the thought of an interview and/or being tested - so I can't believe I got through it!

Thanks to all those who offered suggestions for Excel and Access. As you said, the tests were fairly basic - but I managed to gen up enough to create a spreadsheet and a table, entering the data that was supplied! I was able to manipulate the data in Excel but couldn't create a report in Access using the table I'd created (I didn't learn that bit), but I mentioned in the interview that I was a bit rusty, so they were ok with it!

I hope this thread might help other people that are in a similar situation!

Thanks again for your advice - I couldn't have done it without you!
