The agent called you back, cause you were a new customer, you were happy, you help him hit his target, gave him comission and you're PAYING FOR THE ACCOUNT.

If it was a complaint, no chance!

As for the Lloyds situation, close the account down and open a new one in a few months. (if you want) The less you use it, the chances are the CPD will stay there forever. To get rid of a CPD, close the account down, wait a few months and try again as a "new" customer. That should go in your favour.

As for ringing the centre and telling the agent to upgrade your account, THEY WOULD IF THEY COULD. They are targeted on upgrades and get paid for them. No amount of shouting will get you anywhere. If the computer says no, it really is no! No one can override it. Not even speaking to a manger!!! They just laugh after taking a "managers" call. They don't speak to all CPDs like that. Perhaps it was just you or the agent was fed up. As for most of the advisers you spoke to in the past who had a "couldn't care attitude" I find that hard to believe. Perhaps you feel that way cause you did not get what you want?

It is interesting to see how you get on with Santander. Let us know your experiences in a few months.

Well, I wasn't a new customer as I'd had the account dormant for 12 months, but hey....

I am still going to use LTSB account for paying in cash via the cashpoint then moving it by FP to Santander.... however they keep processing my cash deposits as a cheque so it either involves waiting 3 days for clearance or calling them up. They've now done it for the 4th time yesterday!!!

As for using LTSB as my main account again, I doubt it very much so the CPD marker can stay as far as I'm concerned. LTSB decided they didn't want my extra business, so I took it somewhere where my business *was* wanted. I pay money in, I take it out... I don't see how Santander can be *that* bad as to screw that up!!

And as for them having a "couldn't care less attitude".. they had that when I upgraded my account to Silver last year, so hardly anything new.

Now, gotta call them again to get my payment processed properly.

I really don't mean this personally, but please come back in a few months when you've had no statements, no card, no this no that........

I already have a card and get monthly statements, as I have had the account for 12 months already, just haven't used it...

In fact, I'll qualify that with a little bit of call centre experience for you.

No need, as I work in a call centre, so know how it works ;):D

EDIT: Just called LTSB, and just to sway the balance, and give credit where it was due, the lady I just spoke to couldn't have been more apologetic about the error, and has promised to fax the branch this morning to get it resolved. :)

Paul - you raise a good point!

Simax - did you situation change at all? Have you defaulted? Applied like crazy for credit etc?

As for using the LTSB account the way you plan to use it - again, I would advise you to close it down and reapply again in a few months. Outgoings, ingoings, lengths of time money remains, available credit etc all is noted and if your going to use it even less now, the chance of your CPD is going to fall will remain at zilch.

I've always had Silver as un upgrade option on my internet banking until the day it changed layout. When I asked about some bits on my account last year I saw the list of things internally I was eligible for (Something like Chequebook, £1500 OD, Credit card etc but there was CPD next to each of them)

The CPD marker appeared about 2 months after opening the account.

As to closing the account and re-opening, then that's not an option. I use the account to pay cash in via their cashpoint (working pattern prohibits paying in money via Santander branch) and then use a Faster Payments transfer to Santander.

Anyway, the CPD marker can stay now as I've now got what I wanted elsewhere, and if LTSB now make a loss on my account, then that's their problem, not mine.

As an aside, the Santander Premium welcome pack arrived yesterday (they stated 3-4 days, it took 3), and called them up and registered all the bits. So far so good. Now just got wait for my new debit card and chequebook :)

I've had my account for years, I used to receive statements, stopped in February no one knows why and my card has been cancelled, no one can help me either

(Obviously I don't use the account anymore)

Hi I've been with Santander 4 weeks, took me 3 phone calls to get pin number and internet banking registration sorted and I think the guys at customer service seem a little inexperienced compared to other banks and a little laid back if you get what I mean. Also, I dont like the fact that I cant send faster payments where as most other banks do. i was in the branch of Santander Saturday and some guy was shouting at the assistant that he could'nt access his money again.
Maybe Im being a little picky but from what Iv read on here, it's put me off them completely

You can send up to £250 per day from an A&L current account (per payee, I think but I've never sent two on the same day, myself). It's probably the same throughout the Santander group.

Call me cynical but don't you think that maybe, just maybe, they were "so good" because you are going to be paying them £20/month for this account.

I personally think they called you back because of sales targets.

Of course. This is exactly right. You will soon find out how poor their service is. Nobody knows what they are doing. Once you hit upon a problem you will see they are the bank from hell, as I and others have found them to be.
