    thanks everyone.

i paid £200 today thus brinign it down.

i dont like owing them anything and am doing my hardest to sort this matter out. once i return to work this month ill be able to do the same arrangement as i did last time i had rent problems aout 5 years ago.

im not disputing the fact i owe them some rent but i am disputing and am absolutely furious of being labelled a single mother who should be on benefits.

NOT HAVING A POP AT ANY SINGLE MUMS ON BENEFIT.
There's someone in my head, but it's not me

This is why keeping a spreadsheet is important, because if it ever does get to Court you can show that you have made efforts to pay, all be it here and there, the Court can the assess what you can afford to pay and the Council have a problem then taking it further. It is when people do jack all that you will lose in Court, remember to file all letters you send and receive from the Council in date order. This kind of proof speaks volumes in Court. Good Luck!

Oh blimey! Best letter I had from the council would be either the one claiming I owed them an 11-figure sum beginning 020 (yes, it was their phone number!!) or the response to my extremely sarky and cross response to that one... Sadly I seem to have lost both, but blimey! It's just as well I wasn't in a major depressive phase when I got the first letter, or I would have probably topped myself before I had worked out the stupidity of the mistake! ;)

(ahem, I do have severe depressive episodes, so I am actually being half serious there..!)
