Is this good value? Help!!

Hi,

I bid on a Seiko watch on ebay with maximum bid £50, but was outbid by about £8 in the end. I then find a few minutes later they've offered me a second chance.

Now under what circumstances does this happen? there were about 3 people with higher bids than mine, did they all drop out? Does this mean that they all realised the watch wasn't worth all that much?

I can't find any info/prices on this watch online, but the seller seems reputable, with 100% positive reps (30+) and offers full warranty and paperwork so you know its a genuine Seiko. However this second chance thing has got me worried it's not such a good price.

This is the item no. 300024420964
Do you guys think it's a good buy? Help I've got till tomorrow night to decide!
bad hair day...

You have to get creative in Google Seiko SXD

The price is fair it will cost you $60- $80 in USA plus VAT so the price is fine.

    Ok, my thoughts are thus:

Second chance offers are usually given when the winner pulls out, or the seller has more than one of this item.

You've probably got a second chance offer because this seller deals in watches and has a box full of them. He's well happy with your maximum bid, as it represents good profit for him. The people who bid higher than you but also did not win have probably received a second chance offer too.

So, what to do? Depends on how much you want the watch. If you don't accept the offer, the seller will relist. You may well be able to pick it up cheaper on the next auction. Are you a gambler? :D

If you're happy to pay £50 for it, take the offer. It's what it's worth to you that matters.

I saw a watch I really liked. Won the bidding, by going a bit OTT. Forgot to check if the seller (in Switzerland) took paypal - he didn't. Add a tenner to make a bank transfer, and I managed to turn what was most likely a £20 watch into a £40 watch. Fortunately, I still really like it: to me, it was worth what I paid.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
