I'm having wireless troubles with my laptop-I've looked at the sticky at the top of the page but cant find the right post that corresponds with this prob..its probably there but it's one of 'those' days today!

The laptop connects to the network but then says 'aquiring network address' then 'the connection has limited or no connectivity'

When i click repair it just gets stuck on the 'renewing your IP address' bit.

Support says 'This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer'

Any help greatly appreciated-thankyou

it sounds like you are connecting to your router but that is not connected to the Internet. Try re booting the router and make sure the internet light goes green

The IP address should be assigned by the router automatically if DHCP is enabled on it and your laptop is set to aquire IP automatically (which it sounds like it must be).

Is anything else connected OK (wired or WiFi)?

Are you certain that you are selecting your own WiFi and that the password is entered correctly? (It's been a while since I used wireless and I can't remember exactly what happens if you get the PW wrong).

Is it an old laptop or WiFi adapter and what encryption are you using?
I know that early on some adaptors couldn't handle WPA and would only work with WEP (this is pretty much clutching at straws).

Are you using the software that came with it or just letting Windows handle it? Whichever is the case you could maybe try the other.
