hi guys just looking for some advice. We have been with spark energy since December 2009 at our rented house. We have never had a bill from them till last month when they said we owe 4100 obviously I knew this was wrong so looked over all our paperwork from when we moved in and found they had used the gas reading as the initial electricity reading, even though they dont supply our gas. I rang there customer services who admitted the fault and said she would sort it out then a week later we received a reminder that we owed 4100 so I rang again and was told that it hadnt been changed on the system so she would sort it out and that we were in credit by 130 quid,we are due to move over the npower who supploy our gas on the 9th July so she said we wwould get a refund then, then yesterday we received two letter from debt collection agencies saying we owe 4100. Not impressed at all now and been trying to ring them all yesterday but was on hold. I dont think ive ever seen a worse run company and wondering if this should be reported to trading standards or someone I even left a message with there offline team yesterday to ring me back but never heard anything. also can I claim somekind of compensation for wasting over 2 hours of my day on the phone to them yesterday and another two hours on the previous occasions??

Danny

Hi dannyjebb - I'm afraid that Spark are running true to form, but with your intended switch of Elec supply to N'power, it's important that you protect your tail

Forget the phone and put the history of your problems with Spark to them, in writing making sure you quote your Start meter reading with them, and what the reading is now.
When you are asked for a meter reading by n'power and given the switch date, write again to Spark with the switch meter read and the date.

I can't post the link here but I was going to refer you to my longwinded rant about Spark Energy - search for 'Spark Energy Bargepole' and you'll be able to see it.

We had letters from the debt collectors as well, Spark were meant to have told them that they'd found our payment, but no, they forgot to do that part.

    *sighs*
