Self employed and Tax credits

My OH is SE and we are looking to claim childtax credits.He has about £1,000 per month expenses,will this be taken into account when claiming,and do we just use the same figures as we used on his tax return.

    You use the figure that is net of his expenses so if he has a turnover of £50000 but expenses of £12000 his taxable profit is £38000 and this is the figure you use for tax credits
