Hi
First, I don't know if this is the right area, but anyway.
I moved to Canada recently and have a canadian bank account, however i want to move some money from UK to Canada, I know HSBC charge £17 to wire it across.
My question, how much do they charge if i just go to an atm and withdraw it, do i get a worse rate also? As its only around £500, a £17 charge seems excessive.
Thanks for the help

The fees are in the table half way down this page: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/debit-cards
They use the Visa exchange rate, which can be found here: http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_services/consumer_ex_rates.jsp0 -

I see someone has already answered your question re: using a debit card.
So I just wanted to add that transferring your money online to Canada would cost £9 with HSBC not £17 - you need to read the FAQ on this page - and look at the question about 'Worldpay'.
