    Hi there,
just a few tips to consider when you want to source wholesale items on-line.
firstly dont be trapped by the numerous websites that promise you the earth if you register and pay a small subscription for links to this and that, all a load of rubbish.
firstly choose what your going to sell, secondly do some research into what other sellers are selling in your chosen product line, thirdly, make sure that the whole chain of events from buying the product to selling the product to the public is costed to the penny, when your selling in bulk each pence will matter.
i always find that good product knowledge is as important as the item it's self and try to answer the buyers questions as quickly as possible, i find the quicker i answer the buyers questions the faster the buyer will bid on my itemand will not loose intrest in my itemand amble off else where in search if the product they are looking for.
i hope you will find these pointers helpful, when looking for suppliers, again, do some research, if you want to sell for example, beer glasses, ask at your local pub for the names and address of the persons or companies who supply them, if you want to sell collectable toys, ask your local toy shops where they get their stock from, you will find that a reasonably direct and well mannered approach will work wonders and pay dividends.
it really is easy to earn a fortune on ebay, however, you will find that there are some unsavoury characters out there who will try and steal from you or will attempt to rip you off, im not saying mis-trust everyone, however do have your wits about you and take nothing for granted.
hope this little insight helps and do let me know if i can help you any further.
    kind regards.
  • Thank you very much, I have opened an eBay account today and I will definitely take your points on board so I can make the best decision x
  • I would also agree that good product knowledge is very important. Sell something that you are interested in and know a bit about.

Absolutely 110% back this advice - even if its buying cheap from a boot sale e.g. metal detector found coins - buy for a £2 and sell for £10 to US collectors (one recent example).

Other good sources are local auctions e.g. estate sales - the boxes of misc. stuff can yield a few good items. Or try police / transport sales e.g. you can buy lost luggage from airports / airlines and sort through it for designer clothes / cameras / thermonuclear devices / hidden compartments full of cash / skidmarked undies.

Just have fun and don't spend too much time packing at midnight like me !!

I totally agree with the above

I got a mate that started out in dove cotes he has since branched out into various areas and makes in a good week £2000 he is retired finds it difficult to move so he enjoys spending hours on line searching for stuff.

I help him out with tools, cameras, art equipment as these are my areas of intrest.

and keep records of everything because the minute you buy something to sell you are liable to tax on it as a self employed person! Sooo may forget about this!
  • thinking of doing this myself but not sure what to sell :s

I agree with everything said about.

My advice if you are new to Ebay why not sell some of your unwanted clutter from around the house. THat way you get use to Ebay and build up your feedback. I learned a lot doing this and if you don't mind what you sell and item for at least you are not making a mistake. My best sale was a horrid silver frame which was an unwanted present. It made £50 to the states. Mistakes have included a nice Driver (golf) sold for £12 but underestimated postage by £8 ouch. Good luck and as the other say have fun.

  • if anyone has a great idea of what makes them money they are unlikely to tell you what it is lol

The advise given above is good, and obviously, if you can find a product you can get cheaply or a skill you have you can use that

I.e. if you are good with phones then buy a bulk of 100 faulty phones and fix them, making you a fair amount. For this you will need a flasher and other equipment which cost a bit but you may well be bable to get hold of these cheaply.

Alternatively, think of something you get free but legally, then anything you sell is profit, i.e the free tickets on here, the nick jr events sold for £30 a four i think. Easy money for filling in a form

Try and increase ur feedback buying cheap items that don't make it look like ur just trying to boost ur feedback. Ie phone facias, sim cards etc you can ge thold of for pennies but it looks like ur buying a substantial item , not just tat to improve feedback

Also - if it really is unwanted clutter, and you are not buying stuff to trade, it is not taxable.
