Please could someone help - I am absolutely desperate.
It was partly my fault - I didn't send the evidence of mine and my husbands earnings in with my daughters application.
SFE sent me an email requesting this, sent evidence by special delivery and they've acknowledged receipt.
My husbands P60 and P11d was sent to us in the form of an email as it was filed with HMRC electronically, so I printed the emails and sent these. Student finance are saying its not acceptable as they're not original documents.
I can't get any answers from them other than "you'll have to wait six weeks"
Any advice please - this is driving me to distraction.

I'll take the issue up when I'm back in the office. If you received them electronically, and SFE refuse to disclose an email, then they need to be accepting these. Just like LEA's would.0

Hi i have similar problem, daughters been emailed about her finances but it says they have not received any evidence of her fathers income,we photcopied his last wage slip for the year(hasnt had p60 yet),photocopied all other information that they requested and sent them all in together with the forms.I sent them recorded delivery so have proof that they were posted and signed for. Do you think it is because we sent photcopies?,dont know what to do now, daughter panicking and getting stressed.Any advice would be much appriciated. I might try doing it online and see what happens.0

It does state in the guidance notes that all evidence must be originals and not photocopies. If you do it online you still have to post the original documents.0 -
I would phone and ask for a manager, I got the runaround yesterday and was told that despite sending in my application 6 weeks ago no one had looked at it, funnily enough I now have a letter of offer to give to my uni, it was sorted in less than an afternoon.0

please, please can someone help? My son sent his application in for student finance on 26 April 2010 (special delivery), acknowledged 7 May, supporting financial information returned to us on 26 June. By july heard nothing - telephoned told to wait 3 weeks, heard nothing rang again and was told they had lost application but the financial supporting evidence had been scanned on to computer by studentfinance. Told to fax copy, sent 28 July which was lost. Faxed again 30 July. Someone picked it up 2 August. Today (13th) husband and myself received letters saying they needed financial evidence. Phoned and was told they already have it! Now told we have just got to wait. You speak to someone different each time. My son goes off to university in 3 weeks time and we cannot see an end to this! We are all sick with worry! They don't seem to have a clue what they are doing. Can anyone offer any advice?0

No advice but much sympathy. My DD sent off a paper application according to their advice as the online application went wrong (we ended up with 2 of me showing rather than 1 of me and 1 of my DH which apparently cannot be undone at either end).
We just got an email saying they need our P60's (which were enclosed with the application). Phoned them up and they said they need my P60 but have my DH's and my DH needs to fill in another form as the advice we were given last time was wrong
I told them I hadn't got my P60 any more as the original was sent to them so have had to ask my tax office for a statement of earnings which will take 7 - 10 days. Still don't know how they managed to find one in the application and lose the other!
My daughter also got an email saying the application form wasn't signed. Most confused about that as it was so I suppose we'll have to phone them again.
Much stress all round. Especially as she has her uni letter telling her to bring her proof that she has her loan in with her next month!I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0 -

There is no need to go to UCAS to get into student finance. You just go to http://www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance. Has been that way for at least 2 years and the year before that it was the same but at a different URL.0 -
I think they must be making 1000's of mistakes - lost info, forms and supporting evidence! The staff are full of contradictions. You get the odd one who appears to be helpful and others who are plain rude! My son was put on hold whilst the guy sought advice. He waited for 15 mins, being played piped music, silence, background talking. We were both convinced that he was coming back to the phone hoping that we had hung up! We have also been accused of not ticking all 3 boxes requesting financial help but since we kept a copy we told them that this is not the case! This was all before they admitted to losing the form! Why can't they fast track applications especially when they admit it is their fault! The previous 3 years we had dealt with Local Authority and there had been no problems - all dealt well within the 6 week period! - It has now been nearly 3 months and no end in sight! Complete fiasco and cover up! The system is clearly not working - you don't speak to the same person twice! This is going to be a repeat of last year when 1000s of students went off to University without their finance sorted! Haven't a clue what to do next!0

Confirmed with 2 documents that turned up on my desk today. Will be reporting asap and hopefully getting things resolved/bottoms slapped.0
