Scottish Power Meter Nightmare...
Hi there,
After some advice please... I am having a nightmare with Scottish Power, for two months now I have been trying to change my meter reading logged with them, the one they have is higher than actual reading by about 1000 units!! (admitadley this may have been my fault initially:)), what I thought would be a straight forward process has been anything but. Now they are telling me they have my electricity day and night rate mixed up (i have a dual meter for elec) and it has always been mixed up, but they will resolve. This I have heard before.
My main concern is regarding the fact I have no idea how much I should be owed back, and what I am entitiled to compensation wise if anything considering they have had my money for all this time??
Any help or advice gratefully received,
Thanks
Amy

Hi gla98avb
I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing problems with the billing of your account but hopefully we can get this resolved for you as quickly as possible.
Firstly, with regards to the mix-up with your day and night meter readings, it would all depend on the circumstances of the error which would determine whether you have been over or under billed. If you have been over-billed then we can refund you any excess payment, but if you have been under-billed then this may lead to a debit on your account. However, if this is the case then your account may be applicable under the ERA Billing Code of Practice depending on the circumstances.
It sounds like work is already underway on your account to resolve this but if you would like me to look into your account for you, I can make sure that everything gets resolved and that the necessary adjustments are made if necessary. Just PM me with your account details, or contact me via the e-mail address in our profile, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Secondly, the issues with your meter readings may be tied into the mix up with the day/night rates. If you choose to contact me then can you also give me a note of the meter readings you have, including dates, and I can look into this matter at the same time.
Again, I'm sorry things aren't working out with your account at the moment but we'll do our best to get it sorted for you.
Thanks
