Provisional License Expires

Hi All

Looking for an answer if anyone has it?

I went to have a driving lesson today (first in 4 years) but couldnt go ahead as my provisional license has expired, first got it in 2000 (yes, still not passed!). Have looked on dvla but cant see anywhere about renewing a provisional license, do I have to apply for a new one all over again or can this one be renewed?

I think the provisional, like a full licence does not expire BUT the photo will (so in theory it does expire!) Photo lic need to be renewed every 10 years

Thanks, do you know how I go about renewing the photocard? Which form I need?

the expirery date will be on the photo card itself! valid from and expires you paper lisence will have details of when you should renew a provisional licence i think a provisional expires way before a full license.

You should have received a reminder through the post that your photo part was expiring. If you didn't, it's probably because you've moved house since you got the card and not told the DVLA - don't forget to update that as well.

The actual provisional entitlement does not expire until your 70th birthday. Just like a full licence. But the photo expires every 10 years, which will need to be renewed.
