Help with mortgage cost

Hi, my husband was sacked last month, and we are going to an employment tribunal for wrongful dismissal, no date for that at present. Hubby has signed on at the jobcentre and gets £70 per week, plus we get council tax benefit, child benefit for our son and tax credits of £500 per year, I work part-time (roughly 12 hours per week) and receive £230 (approx) per month, so we haven't got much money coming in at the moment. We have got mortgage protection, but can't claim as he was dismissed, however, they did say that if and when he wins his tribunal, they will pay out, but that doesnt help us at the moment. What I would like to know is would we be eligible for any assistance with paying our mortgage?

Thanks in anticipation

Only if he is claiming JSA (Income Base) not (Contribution base). Even then you would have a waiting period of 3 months and there would be restrictions on the amount paid, ie mortgage under £200,000, the mortgage was for the purchase of the home with no equity releases, interest rate etc. Get's a bit complicated - have a look on the DWP website.
