NPower - 30 days grace rule?

Blimey, I've confused myself, reading that!
I do seem to over complicate things..
Basically, I wish my Electric meter was in my flat.
It isn't, and because of where it is, I can hardly ever get to it!0 -

Great to hear you got some help, from EDF Trust.
About to print off the Severn Trent Water Trust Fund, to ask them for help with clearing the Npower Electric arrears.
Anyone know, if NPower agree to put accounts on hold, while I apply to Severn Trent for a grant?
Thanks again,
Sim.
No worries, well done for getting straight onto it - it tok me awhile to know where to go and what to do! Once my process started I think it took about 2 months to get the decision, I don't know how Severn Trent !!!!!! (haha whay an abbreviation!) works.
Have you called and asked about the grace yet? I'm pretty sure EDF left me to make whatever payments I could afford while my claim was investigated, but obviously if you can't pay any amounts due to the DRO I don't know where this would lead you. Surely they can just be a bit lenient & understanding, afterall, they're not DCAs & well-known for being pig-headed!I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

About to phone NPower now, and politely beg..
Wish me luck!0 -
Wishing you all the luck I can! It may even help to speak to a different advisor later if the one you speak to first doesnt help.
Different people can be more sympathetic than others!I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Spot on climb.
It's luck of the draw, depending on who you get through to, and if they're in a good mood.
This bloke I'm on the phone to now at NPower, is a diamond geezer!
I quickly ran through, a condensed version, of my budget, and explained that I'm already looking at a deficit of around £40 a month, after just paying rent, electric and phone, as well as eating :-/
He kept pushing for a prepay meter / Fuel Direct DWP deductions,, but I've just given him up to date Electric meter readings, and he's offered to try and set up a payment plan, for JUST THE USAGE
He's speaking to someone about arranging it now.
As for the arrears - Lord knows what he's going to suggest, but if he can set up a payment plan for just the current Electric usage, then this will not affect my DRO, as no preference would have been made.
So, at last my current NPower debt won't get any bigger.
I'm assuming, when this NPower guy comes back on the phone, he'll probably freeze the arrears / let them go to a DCA??
At least then, I can treat it as a seperate debt, and include it in the DRO.
.. UPDATE -
The NPower rep, has just come back on the phone, and says he can hopefully, set up a payment plan, for just the usage = £38.00 per Month, for current Electric.
I asked him what will happen, re the Arrears, and he says that hopefully (he's checking with another dpt - the 'Safe Team' now) the £645.00 will be placed on their 'case file' / on hold temporarily, for 2 / 3months.
I'm now praying, that this will be confirmed in 5 minutes!
Cheers,

Lowest he could get it down to, was £11 a week / £44 a month.
Npower have agreed, to me paying £11 each week by payment card -
First payment is due on 4th August, and it will be paying £9.50 a week, and £1.50 towards the arrears.
I'm quite pleased, as they've confirmed that they'll review this in a few months, but as long as I don't default, then no further action will be taken.
I'm now about to call, the Insolvency Service, to ask about this, in relation to the DRO, as I don't want to be showing 'preference' to a creditor.
As I'm paying even a small amount towards the arrears, this could pose a problem :-/
Cheers,

I'm so pleased! It makes all the difference, doesn't it?

So, at last my current NPower debt won't get any bigger. Woop woop! Give yourself a pat on the back! Celebrate with a cuppa! lol (sorry, I just know how great it feels to be moving forward & am getting so excited for you!)
It's a shame about the arrears, but so much more good news going on! As regards the DRO, the company helping you with it must understand what position you are in? Will they not talk communicate with NPower?I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Was going to call CCCS, but their Bankruptcy / DRO department, closed at 5, so I'll be calling them tomorrow.
I'm too shattered, to start going through my bills / paperwork tonight anyway!
That's a good point you make, re them talking to NPower, on my behalf.. I'll call CCCS, in the morning, and see if they can speak to them on my behalf.
Having called the Insolvency Service, they confirmed, that yes, it would be seen as me having shown 'preferential treatment to one creditor over another.. IF I pay the arrears off as well as the current usage
I'm going to try and relax tonight, have an early night, and then call CCCS in the morning, as I really don't know how to approach this.
Thanks,
