Motor Insurance rip-off????????

Today I took the time to inform my insurance company that I had changed address. For this there was a £25 admin charge, even though they would not be sending a new certificate as the cert does not show the address on it!

The only saving grace is the area I've moved into is a lower risk, so I was only charged £11.20..........

The name of the company is Hastings Direct.........

You went with an online company that charges for any and every service. That was your choice to be fixated by price over service. If you went with a broker you would find that most of the time there would be no charges.

Why don't you just complain to them, when it happened to me recently I moaned like hell and said i'd take my business elsewhere on renewal etc, and as a gesture of goodwill they didn't charge me, still took my business somewhere else though as the broker found me a better deal lol
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I don't think I gave it a second thought until I'd hung up, I was gobsmacked really....I think if I'd known they would charge I'd have been ready, think I'll need to use the complaints section on their website, though it's probably an old telephone in an abandoned office covered in dust....on top of that the DVLA want £20 because they want me to put a new photo on my driving licence.

Everyone wants the cheapest of the cheap prices nowadays, so that does mean they have to recoup where they can.

Cant have your cake and eat it i'm afraid.

when I changed address I had to pay an additional sum, not just an admin fee!! Cant remember who it was with now...

It was a brand new estate and even though the car was now parked in a garage (didnt have a garage before) the premium still went up! Probably based on data for the surrounding area seeing as they wouldn't have had any for a brand new estate. Oh well
I had paid a yr up front as well and still had about 6 mths left to run on the policy but i certainly didnt renew with them!

Didn't cost a bean to alter my address (admin fee wise) with Esure a couple of years back.

    It isn't a " rip-off " it is an admin charge.

Use a decent insurer that doesn't make these charges.

If you had read the terms of the policy before taking it out you would have seen that they would charge an admin fee for alterations to the policy, you did read it right? Course you did ;)
