Natinwide cash card+/ using card abroad confusion!

Hi, i applied for the above account for 2 reasons - one, so i can shop online at tesco, as i only had a halifax electron, and 2, so i could use it abroad as we get paid on two days that we are away, which will account for more than half our spending money.
After reading a thread on here ive now realised i wont be able to withdraw abroad with this card. Would it be best to just use my halifax or a travel money card? i mean, would it cost more in charges to load a travel money card with my electron when i get paid or to just use my electron directly?
Also, someone mentioned that when they send the new cards, you will be able to use your current cashcard still for 21 days? Is this true? If so, i might be in luck as i go in 3 weeks so if it takes its time to come then i may just get away with it.
Sorry if ive confused you, this is all new to me

You haven't said where your going on Holiday. However I would recommend you get a Fairfx Anywhere card. Instead of the 2.75% charge of most debit cards (2.75 +£1.50 for ever single transaction with your halifax electron) you get charged 1.5% on everything.
If it does come down to it, you can put money on the card with your new Nationwide card for free, you can do it online, and then just spend off the prepaid card, getting round the ATM ban that way.0 -
