Roofing - rebedding ridge and verge

We have been quoted £350 to rebed the verges and a further £150 for the ridge, including all materials and VAT. We live in a fair-sized 3 bed detached house. The roofer said repointing would be cheaper, but the lady who lived here before had the roof repointed and the new mortar didn't seem to to bond very well to the old stuff. Bearing that in mind, is it worth getting the tiles rebedded and is £500 reasonable?

    sounds about right to me.

    we had ours done last year and it was around 600.
    but they used rapid set cement which is double cost of normal cement.
    it has to be raked out into the joint if your pointing its no good just pointing over old mortor otherwise it will just pop back out again, as the new mortor has no key to adhere to
