Pension Credits and ISA Savings

Hiya, hope someone can help me out here. I did do a search but couldn't find the answer, so apologies if I'm repeating things. :o

My Dad turned 60 in May and found out last week (via a welfare rights benefit check) that he is entitled to Pension Credits and the Welfare Rights woman phoned through the application on his behalf.

They did ask how much money they had in the bank (£3000) but didn't ask about any ISA's etc.

My Mum has dug out the ISA paperwork and they opened the account in December 2008. They pay in £100 per month, so presently have £2000 in the account.

Obviously they're still £5000 off the savings limit, but do they need to phone up the PC people and declare these savings?

My Mum's worried that they'll be in trouble if they don't declare it and Pension Credits find out about it and think she's trying to fraud them.

If she does have to phone them, could someone please tell us the best number to call?

Many thanks

Lou xx

He can have up to £10000 in savings before it affects PC; so she does not have to declare them.

    Thanks AOTG, much appreciated.

My Mum says to tell you you've put her mind at rest now that I won't be visiting her any time soon in Jail. :rotfl:

Yeah, the Welfar Rights woman phoned through the Council Tax benefit application and also took details of the mortgage as they may be eligible for the SMI payments as well. :j

They have a small mortgage but, as Tescos say, every little helps...:D

Thanks again for your replies, much appreciated.
