PC World

Back in December I ordered a netbook from PCWorld and it was delivered the next day.

I returned it to them within a week, they received it and acknowledged receipt.

I'm still waiting for a refund, however - £505. They replied to one email I sent, saying that yes, they'd received the netbook but no, they haven't issued a refund yet - and that they were forwarding my email to head office. This was about two months ago. I've emailed them since and they're now ignoring me.

Any ideas on what I should do now? I can't afford to write off my money :(

Have you tried speaking to them in person or on the phone?

Some companies are just terrible with emails, so you'll likely get a better response that way.

Next step would be to write to head office with all the information (send recorded delivery) asking for a resolution in a reasonable time-frame, say another 14 days.

Did you pay cash or credit card? If the latter then the cc company are jointly liable and you can put into dispute.

If you paid by credit card you can tell your credit card company you are in dispute and ask them to refund the charges since you have been trying to resolve the matter with no success.

Why not phone their call centre and ask. I am sure its a misunderstanding and will be easily fixed.

Thank you all for your replies.

They have always answered my emails very quickly in the past so it feels as though they've been ignoring me.

My husband decided to take over and rang them yesterday. He told them if they didn't sort it out within 24 hours then he was going to start adding interest on a daily basis and insist on compensation on top. I think he's been taking tips from me - I just haven't had the energy to devote to anything like this for such a long time because I have some serious health problems at the moment.

They called back today and refunded me there and then - they were full of apologies, said it was disgusting - and offered me £50 worth of gift vouchers. I'm a happy bunny again now!

Well done. Thanks for reporting back on your success. Sometimes companies just need a kick up the rear!
