Are There ANY Laptops That Play Hi-Spec Games?

I am contemplating scrapping my broken Acer Aspire 7110 laptop (hinges broken and keys faded) for a new one off the catalogue. However, before I venture to buy a new laptop, I want to know if there are any that match up to the game-playing capabilities of PCs.
I have had my eye on the game NAPOLEON for quite a while, but every time I try to play such a game on my Acer Aspire laptop, the graphics are either too slow and jerky (e.g. Fifa 2010) or it just won't play at all.

Alienware are your best bet for gaming laptops (now owned by Dell.)
Roughly gaming laptops will cost roughly 1.5 to 2 times more than a pc of the same spec without monitor.
As for portable gaming, without it being plugged in high powered games will zap the juice within an hour or so.0 -

That's no surprise. That is one seriously low spec laptop.
Look at this Toshiba for £434 if you can afford it. Hurry as there is only one left.
It's a £600, maybe £700 laptop. Will be in new condition with a full 12 month warranty.0 -
While not exaclty cheap...
Asus G73 JH £1600
MSI GX740 £1200
both are core i7 720qm + Mobility radeon 5870, 17"
Will easly match all but the best desktops0 -
Seems someone else beat you to the Satellite A500-1GL...0

I'll echo the above comments, you CAN get gaming laptops however they will:
1-be significantly more expensive than a desktop of a similar spec (2x typically)
2-Have a significantly shorter life than a desktop as no upgrades are possible (you'll not be able to run recent games after 18 months odd rather than 3.5-5 years with selective upgrades for a desktop)
3-Expect very short battery life when not plugged into the mains (1 hour typical)
4-Tend to suffer heat problems (read: uncomfortably hot to use, shorter component life, unusual behaviour/crashing if its cooling deteriorates/gets too clogged up with dust)
That being said you can get them, you can also get part of the way there by making sure you get a laptop with a decent dedicated graphics card built in.
ACER were doing a good one with a decent RADEON card for about £600 the other month but being an ACER you're taking your chances with very rough/ropey build quality, but being a gaming laptop you don't expect them to last long in any case
